Description
‘Trip-Trap’ mouse trap designed by Maurice Juggins in 1979. It is a humane trap, and consists of a plastic box with a push up door.
The ‘Trip-Trap’ mouse trap was first designed by Maurice Juggins in 1979 and patented in 1982 (No. GB2017477). It is a humane trap, and consists of a plastic box with a push up door. Modifications were made in 1984 (No. GB2017477 and GB2095087) to include an internal swing-door which was released when the mouse stepped on a treadle, closing the door behind it, and a separate removable container at the end of the trap. The container in this trap is large to contain nest material for use in outdoor studies of field mice and voles. The ‘Trip-Trap’ was manufactured in the 1980s by North West Plastics Ltd, Manchester, then by Stewart Plastics, and from 1990 by Procter Brothers. Along with the ‘Nippit’, the ‘Trip-Trap’ is the only mouse trap still manufactured by Proctor Brothers.
