    This is a pair of brown, orange socks with rib top. They are used and probably hand knitted. These are a pair from a group of seven pairs of men's long socks of various colours and designs.

    Men's long socks, twentieth century. These two pairs of men's socks come from a wider collection that contains both machine-knitted and hand-knitted examples. They are representative of a type of garment commonly worn by farmers during the first half of the twentieth century and that are still worn by many rural people to this day.
