This brander was suspended over an open fire for toasting brander bannocks. It is made of wrought iron and consists of a ring, criss-crossed with straight and wavy bars. The bannocks were placed on the bars, and the heat of the fire easy reached them through the spaces. The handle is attached by two swivel pins, so that it can be folded flat when the object is not in use. When upright the handle could be held in place by a square nut.
