    Box of examples of hand sewing. Submitted by Miss D. A. Lawrence for a City & Guilds examination in 1917, at Kendrick School.
    This is a box of examples of hand sewing, consisting of garments and demonstrations of different kinds of stitching on different fabrics. It was submitted by Miss D. A. Lawrence for, and passed with 1st class, a City & Guilds examination in 1917. Miss Lawrence carried out the work at Kendrick School.

    The box contains: 1) Baby's nightgown in fine cotton; 2) Baby's pillow; 3) Child's pinafore, mauve printed cream cotton; 4) Baby's vest, cream flannel; 5) Girl's dress, blue linen with sample of stitching attached; 6) Child's petticoat, white cotton and cream flannel; 7) Nightdress case, cream linen embroidered with orange thread; 8) Example of fine darning of damask table linen; 9) Adult's pinafore, cream linen with sample of pleating attached; 10) Child's dress, white (now grey) organza with embroidery and trimming; 11) Baby's pants, cream cotton; 12) Girl's knickers, white cotton with frill; 13) Girl's dress, white cotton, pleated, tucked and embroidered; 14) Girl's magyar dress, brown and cream cotton; 15) Flannel sample, showing seams and many kinds of sticking, patching and trimming; 16) Cotton sample, showing seams and many kinds of stitching, patching and trimming.
