    Great House Farm, Dorstone, Hertfordshire,
  • Description
Photograph of Great House Farm, Dorstone, Hertfordshire, 1903. Three men and two children with a donkey near a barn.
This is a photograph in an ornate gold frame of Great House Farm, Dorstone, Hertfordshire, in 1903. It depicts three men and two children with a donkey near a barn. Written on the back of the photograph is the following: 'Summer 1903, Dorstone (Golden Valley)'. The man on the left is Farmer Pitt (later of Llanyravon, Wales) who was perhaps England's last professional 'blood letter'. He died in 1912 and his patients were mostly based in Radnorshire, Wales. The photograph was found in the Museum unaccessioned and it is not known for sure how the Museum acquired it, but it is said to have been donated by Captain Sir Hugh Rhys Rankin Bt.
