    Sectioned cream separator by R. A. Lister & Co. Ltd. Dursley, Gloucestershire, mid 20th C. Department of Food Science University of Reading.
    This is a cream separator made by R. A. Lister & Co. Ltd. in Dursley, Gloucestershire, in the 1940s or 1950s. There are six parts to the separator: 1) the main body of the machine which has been enamelled in red; 2-3) two metal spouts for cream and skimmed milk; 4) one metal cover; 5) one float; 6) one metal supply can for milk. An inscription is partly visible and probably reads, 'LISTER BALL BEARING CREAM SEPARATOR // R. A. LISTER & CO. LTD, DURSLEY, ENGLAND. RS11'. This model could be hand- or electrically powered and is designed to be bolted to a pedestal or stand. This separator was donated to MERL by the Department of Food Science at the University of Reading, Berkshire. It has been sectioned for teaching purposes.
