A decorative silver box for matches designed to be hung from a watch chain. Made in 1900 and donated by Roger Plumb.
This is a decorative silver box for matches designed to be hung from a watch chain. It has a hinged lid and a serrated striking surface at the bottom of the box. It is inscribed with the maker's initials, 'S. L & S LD', as well as the anchor city mark denoting that the silverware was made in Birmingham and the 'a' date letter mark denoting that it was made in 1900. It is one of a number of objects donated to MERL by Roger Plumb (object numbers 83/98-83/128).
