  • Description
    Rubber horseshoe with an inner core of hard material. Made c. 1916 may have been owned and used by a coal merchant in Kingsclere, Hampshire.
    This is a rubber horseshoe with an inner core of hard material. The top surface is broken and worn so that the inner core is exposed. It has four nail holes on each side and one larger hole at each heel of the shoe. It is inscribed, '6 1/4HH // REG. TRADE MARK IMPERATOR'. According to the donor, this shoe was adjustable and was probably made c. 1916 for use in the trenches in the First World War. It is thought to have been owned and used by a coal merchant in Kingsclere, Hampshire.
