This is a wooden knife sharpening board with a polishing surface consisting of strips of leather. On the back is a worn and incomplete label with a portrait of the Duke of Wellington, suggesting that it may be an "OAKEYS WELLINGTON KNIFE BOARD", made by John Oakey & Sons Ltd. of London. It was used by the donor's mother.
