Bolt tongs used by a wheelwright in Sompting, West Sussex. Used to lift small bolts or crucibles of molten metal from the fire.
These bolt tongs were used by the donor's husband, who was a wheelwright in Sompting, West Sussex. They were used to lift fairly small bolts from the forge fire, or to lift crucibles of molten metal from the fire.
