She married about 1913, before the 1st world war and the donor reckons it was then that she bought these two items. She had a wash house and a helper, a boiler for hot water and a mangle which had been fitted/ adapted to work electrically. The mangle was so big and powerful, the sheets didn't need ironing. Mrs Smith used this till 1950 when she had a seisure; she then bought an electrical washing machine.'
