Archival history
MERL Miscellaneous-'Printing block at MERL (Project in Progress, not yet completed), In 2009 and 2010 the entire printing block collection was sorted out. The majority of the collection was never properly accessioned since acquisition in the 1970's. The blocks had been stored under one number in one of the deep storage rooms (known as the Camp) of the old museum on White Knights Campus. The collection had been split in a selection made by Martin Andrews and kept at the Typography Department and the rest was retrieved in 2008 and brought to the new MERL conservation studio. The Typography collection was brought to MERL as well and were sorted, accessioned and photographed. The collections were divided in the different manufacturers and the old accession numbers were used to record them. The result is: 70/258/1-407- Reeves and Sons, Brattons Works, Westbury, Wilshire, Part held at MERL and part at Typography. 70/259- Cooch, 70/260/1-28- A. W.
