  • Description
This pair of snuffers is made of steel. A rectangular box is fitted to one blade, and the other has a flat piece of metal at right angles to it to carry the wick into the box and extinguish it. The box is cut through so that a blade, which is hinged near the point of the snuffers, can be dropped over the opening of the box to prevent the cutt off snuff falling out when the snuffers are opened. The blade is inscribed 'W.R. Patent Lever without Springs'. At the joint of the blades there is an inscription 'By his Majesty's Letters Patent'.
