  • Description
    This is part of a cooler. The refrigerator consists of two side pieces which support a corrugated sheet of tinned copper between them. There is a trough at the bottom which has an outlet pipe for the milk. There is an inlet pipe for water at the top on one side and an outlet a the bottom on the opposite side. Milk is poured continuously from a tank above the refridgerator and is cooled as it passes downwards over the water cooled corrigations. The outlet pipe loads to the churn. Two pins at the top on each side would suspend the refrigerator from a bracket. The cooler was used to chilled the milk in order for it to keep longer before sale. This item was used at Hertfordshire College of Agriculture and Horticulture, St. Albans.
