PRESERVING JARS, RUBBER RINGS AND STERILIZER. This Sterilizer was used in the kitchen to clean jars and bottles. Inside the tinned container there is a stand, lid and a holder for a thermometer. It was manufactured by a fruit, vegetable and game-bottling appliance manufacturing company based in Reading. This sterilizer and some of the jars were last used in the 1920s by the donor’s mother before being donated. These jars were used to store jam and preserve fruit. The rubber rings were used to help seal the jars. MERL 71/210, 87/7/2, 87/8/2, 87/4, 87/1/1-3.
