  • Description
    This is a clogger's tool used for etching a groove round the sole which holds the leather uppers of the shoe. It cuts with a small gouge-like blade. It was used up until 1952 by the donor, whose family were cloggers for many generations.

These are fitted for the individual customer by the clogger. The leather uppers are also fitted by the clogger, they are in two pieces which are sewn together and fastened into the groove of the clog sole. Then another strip of leather is nailed over the groove.'
