This flail is a tool used for threshing by hand. Purchased by the donor in Criccieth, Gwynedd, and may have been made and/or used in that area.
This flail is a tool used for threshing by hand. It is very roughly made, both parts being squared, not rounded as is more common. The section of the handle which would be held by the hand, however, has been rounded and smoothed for greater comfort. The hand-staff and swingel are joined together by leather hinging. It was purchased by the donor in Criccieth, Gwynedd, and may have been made and/or used in that area.
