Description
Plaque indicating insurance against fire. Possibly issued by Britannia Fire Insurance Company, founded 1868, which joined Anglo French 1879.
Fire insurance plaques are embossed metal signs, which were placed on the front of houses indicating they were insured against fire. This plaque was possibly issued by the Britannia Fire Insurance Company, which was founded in 1868. The Association was a fire insurance company and joined Anglo French in 1879. This plaque, in black, shows Britannia with a shield, spear and harp, policy number 11873 impressed on the panel below.
