    Sampler all in cross stitch with a central poem, floral border, and alphabet and numbers. By Isabella Wooden in 1820 at Barrow in Furness.
    This is a sampler all in cross stitch with a central poem, floral border, and alphabet and numbers, using green, red, pink, orange, black and pale green. The embroidery was done by Isabella Wooden in 1820 at Barrow in Furness. The sampler was hung in the Craig House, The Square at Barrow on Furness in the 1880s.

    MERL 'Handwritten catalogue' form – ‘Sampler // Domestic furnishing picture // H Helm, Coley Park Reading // Materials- wood, textile. Condition: faded. Executed in Green, red, pink, orange, black, pale green. All in cross stitch on the tapestry principle. Hung in Craig house the square Barrow in Furness from 1880s- home of Mrs Frearson of above address. Made by Isabella Woodend in 1820 at Barrow in Furness.’, MERL Miscellaneous note - [text on panel] 'Remember in thy youthful days // To live to thy Creator's praise // Then shall the final closing scene // Be happy tranquil and serene // Isabella Woodend finished this work July 12th 1820'
