  • Description
    A 'Quick Cooker' bowl for cooking or re-heating food over water, dating from 1911. It consists of a white-glazed ceramic bowl with a central funnel and lid. Instructions on how to use the Quick Cooker and other information are printed in green on the lid and the bowl. The bowl was made by Grimwade Ltd. of Winton Pottery in Stoke-on-Trent, and had several patents.

    QUICK COOKER. This bowl was for cooking or re-heating food over water. Dating from 1911, it is made from white-glazed ceramic. The instructions are printed on the lid and the bowl. It was made by Grimwade Ltd of Winton Pottery, Stoke-on-Trent. What do we use to re-heat food in our kitchens today? Why I chose it? 'It shows how people would have cooked in the past. The instructions on the top show how to make a meal. Inside there is a funnel to let the air escape.' MERL 89/11/1-2.
