    DEACCESSIONED. Please note that this object no longer forms part of the Museum of English Rural Life collection and cannot be accessed at our institution. This shell auger belonged to the donor's great-grandfather, who used it in the first half of the nineteenth century. It is used for boring holes into wood, and is a type of auger often used in the furniture making industry. The handle is stamped 'H. Wilkin'.
