MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'Yokes were used for carrying buckets about the farms. They were most often used in the dairy for carrying milk in coopered wood buckets. // The yoke was carried on the shoulders and buckets hung on the two chains at either end. // This yoke measures 34.5 inches in length and is made of either elm or willow. It is badly worn.'
