This is a cheese table, used for standing cheeses on to drain. These are thought to have come from the British Dairy Institute at Valpy Street, Reading, and may have originally come from Aylesbury.

The top is broken into 2 pieces. // Use: for standing cheeses on to drain.’, Letter, Dairy Department to Mr Jewel,14th September 1965 - ‘ Dear Mr Jewell, We are taking out the soft cheese draining table. These tables were installed in 1895. It is thought that they were in the British Dairy Institute at Valpy Street (now the Police Station) and may have come from Aylesbury. I have enquiries in hand now re the latter point. I spoke to you about these tables some time ago, and they will come up on a lorry about 10am tomorrow Wednesday.’
