MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'This is a crudely made wooden rat trap with a spring door. This consists of a metal hook, one end of which projects into the cage and holds the bait, and the other holds the door bar down. Thus when the rat touches the bait, the rod is released and the door shuts. // The cage measures 11 inches long, 5 inches across and 3.5 inches high.', No Lavinia Smith No. recorded., Heritage of the Hendreds Exhibition 1969 - 'Catalogue of Exhibits // Number 344 // Rat Trap // Lent by MERL Miss Smith c.'
