A cheese sampler used to test the quality of the cheese. Part of the Saint Mary Bourne Collection, Hampshire.
A cheese sampler, used for withdrawing samples from cheese in order to test the quality of the cheese. It is made of steel and consists of a trough-shaped blade, and a T-shaped handle with a hammer head at one end at a claw at the other. This type of handle may have helped in the removal and replacement of the cheese mould follower. The sampler is part of the Saint Mary Bourne Collection, from the village of Saint Mary Bourne in Hampshire.
