  • Description
This angler’s basket, or 'creel', would have been used by a fresh-water angler to carry his catch. It is pouch-shaped basket, made of willow skein, with a cover which has a hole through which the fish could be put into the basket. There are also two holes at the back of the basket to take a carrying strap. These baskets were made in France and imported in great quantities before the waterproof bag came into general use.
