Donneruplund ard,
Creator
Description
This is a replica of an Iron Age ard found in the peat bogs of Donneruplund, Vejle County, Denmark, in 1944. An ard differs from a plough in that it does not have a mouldboard for turning over the furrows. This ard consists of four parts – a beam, stilt, ploughshare and fore-share. The replica was made at the Museum of English Rural Life in Reading in 1957 for experimental purposes. There appear to be two specimens.
