    These two brass letter 'W's are ornaments for a horse's harness. They were used by the donor's grandfather, Mr James White, and his father, who ran a horse cab business from Castle Street, Reading.

    MERL ‘Memorandum form’ – ‘Harness decoration “W”s. // These were used by the donor’s grandfather and greatgrandfather who ran a horse cab business at 110 Castle Street (opposite Hewens). The great grandfather had a furniture van which was drawn by 6 or 8 horses, and the donor wonders whether they were used on this. // These were probably used 80 to 100 years ago’
