    These three half-oxshoes belonged to the donor's father, who was of 'yeoman stock' from the Bovingdon area of Hertfordshire.
    Oxshoes are nailed or glued to the ox's hooves to protect the hooves from wear and tear. Each hoof was fitted with two half-shoes, as an ox's hoof is cloven. These three half-oxshoes belonged to the donor's father, who was of 'yeoman stock' from the Bovingdon area of Hertfordshire.
