    A manure spreader or 'muck knocker'. This type of spreader is said to have been used in Leicestershire for spreading cow manure on arable land.
    This tool, which consists of an iron ring, would have had a wooden handle and is a manure spreader, or 'muck knocker'. This type of spreader is said to have been used in Leicestershire for spreading cow manure on arable land.

    MERL ‘Handwritten catalogue’ form – ‘Called a “muck knocker” – used for spreading heaps of manure laid on ground and not for primary spreading. // Identified by visitor (1969) as commonly used in Leicester for spreading cow manure on arable land. Evidently thus used only in grassland area – Midlands.’
