MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'Miss Smith obtained these scales from Mr. Frank Stibbs, a builder, of East Hendred, Berks. // The scales are similar in design and principle to 51/249M. The graduated scale, however, is slightly different, for the one side is graduated 20, 40 and thence in forties up to a maximum of 400 lbs, while the other side is marked in fives up to 40 lbs.
