Description
Painted silk banner of the Ancient Order of Foresters. One side: 'COURT CITY PALLADUR 3468 SHAFTESBURY'. Other: 'UNITY IS STRENGTH'. By 'Tuttil', 1880s.
This is a large painted silk banner of the Ancient Order of Foresters. It is green/brown in colour, with beige edges. One one side is an image of an angel and huntsmen, with an heraldic shield below. It is inscribed 'COURT CITY PALLADUR 3468 SHAFTESBURY'. The other side shows a huntsman breaking a stick and another man with a bundle of sticks. The inscription reads 'UNITY IS STRENGTH'. It is thought to have been made by 'Tuttil' in the 1880s.
