Uma Kambhampati
Uma Kambhampati is a Professor of Economics and Head of the School of Politics Economics and International Relations at the University. She has been at the University of Reading since 1998 and has over the years undertaken a range of leadership roles including Research Director for Economics, Head of Department and Head of School (since 2015). Prior to her appointment at Reading, she obtained her BA, MPhil and PhD degrees in Economics from the University of Cambridge where she was also employed as a post-doctoral researcher. Uma is on the Strategic Advisory Group of the Global Challenges Research Fund and a Council Member of the Development Studies Association and the Royal Statistical Society.
Uma is a representative of the University’s Leadership Group on Council. As a member of this group and also as a Head of School, she brings knowledge of the experiences of this group to Council. She is also very aware of the challenges and opportunities facing the university’s T&L and research activities.
