Food and Nutritional Science

Our Food and Nutritional Sciences Department is a world-leading research environment, with a prestigious standing in the food industry and the academic community.

We have the largest range of dedicated food teaching facilities of any UK university, which enables us to engage in uniquely diverse teaching and research. The Department's laboratory facilities include a Chemical Analysis Facility with several NMR spectrometers, mass spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction facilities. Extensive laboratories complement these facilities: the Hugh Sinclair Unit of Human Nutrition, the Flavour Centre, the Sensory Science Centre and the Food Processing Centre.
