Please note the Ure Museum is no longer open to the public on a Monday in or out of University term time.

 

 

Out of Term time:

During University vacation times, the Museum will be normally open only on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 9.00 am-4.30 pm and for our special events. Please email ure@reading.ac.uk or ring us on 0118 378 6990 for up to date opening times.

Term Opening Hours:

During term time the Ure Museum is normally open Tuesday- Friday 9.00 am to 4.30 pm. Admission to the museum for the general public is free, although there is a charge for education visits and special events, see our School Resources page for more details. As the museum is also used for educational activities, visitors may find themselves sharing the space with a class. See our Events page for forthcoming special events.

 

Getting to the Museum

The Museum is based in the centre of the University of Reading, Whiteknights campus, on the ground floor of the Edith Morley building, in the Department of Classics, room 38 (please see map below). A full campus map can be found here.

 Find us by car

Enter the Whiteknights Campus from the A327 Shinfield Road, onto Queens's Drive (the turning with the University Sports Centre on the corner). More details on how to visit the Whiteknights campus can be found here.

There is a Pay and Display carpark (carpark 1A) for visitors next to the Sports Park (Shinfield Road entrance). Please be aware that the pay and display machines only accept debit/credit cards.

Find us by bus

The University does have very good bus links from the town centre and train station, but please visit https://www.reading.ac.uk/about/visit-us.aspx  for more information on getting to Whiteknights campus.

Reading Buses routes 3, 9, 21 and 21a  provide regular bus service from Reading station.
