Widen your horizons

At Reading we offer the opportunity to study a wide range of languages at a variety of levels.  There is flexibility in the type of course offered and, if studying for a degree, you may combine a language with a wide variety of other subjects.

  • You can study German language as part of a single or joint degree, at beginners, intermediate or advanced level.  Click here to visit the Department of German Studies home page.  Check entry requirements on the course page for German.

  • You can also study German as a module within your degree on an intensive beginners course, taking you to GCSE level in one term and A-level in two. This is taught in the German department. German for Beginners

  • You can also study German on a less intensive course as a module within your degree.  This is taught as part of the Institution-Wide Language Programme (IWLP).  Most programmes allow you to take 20 credits per year with IWLP as part of your degree.  IWLP information

  • You can also study German for interest in addition to your degree.  This is also taught as part of the Institution-Wide Language Programme (IWLP).  IWLP information

  • There are also opportunities for self-study, if you wish to learn German independently. Click  here for more information about the Self-Access Centre.
