1:1 consultations for writing and presentations

Work with one of our experienced academic English tutors on a one-to-one basis to improve your writing and presentation skills.

As an international or EU student at the University of Reading, you can book individual Writing Consultations or Presentation Consultations to get advice and input on your academic communication in English.

These consultations allow you to ask specific questions and receive feedback on a particular piece of work from one of our highly qualified academic language specialists.

You can apply for a maximum of two 30-minute consultations per term.

Writing consultations

Submit up to four pages of your writing to be reviewed in advance. Your AEP tutor will be able to answer questions and offer advice or feedback regarding task achievement, organisation, source-use and citation, and language. Please note that this is not a proofreading or correction service. Your tutor will offer advice and feedback to help you develop and improve your work.

Presentation consultations

You can practise and receive feedback on clarity of message, language accuracy, and pronunciation.

To apply for a consultation, please complete the AEP consultation request form.

A tutor will email you to arrange a consultation time. Please note that we may not be able to see you immediately, so try to plan ahead if you know that you will need a consultation. You should aim to request a consultation at least 5 working days before you would like to meet with a tutor. Consultations take place Monday-Friday 09:00 - 17:00 during term time.
