Active Projects:
I am currently involved in professional development programmes for English Language teachers at universities in China; and courses for academic staff from partner universities overseas who are developing their capacity to teach and work through the medium of English. Related to this, I recently worked on a teaching and learning project on approaches to English-medium Instruction (EMI).

I am also involved in the design and delivery of short courses for visiting international students who would like a Taste of UK Higher Education.

I am also currently working on one strand of a University of Reading project to enhance the International Student Experience, by developing a greater understanding among teaching staff of the English language levels of international students.

I have worked in the field of English language teaching and teacher development for over 25 years, in Spain, Turkey, Hungary and Oman. I have worked at the University of Reading since 2003, where I have been involved in assessment, curriculum design and resource development for English for Academic Purposes.
I obtained the Diploma in Teaching English to Adults (DELTA ) early in my teaching career and followed this up with a Masters in English Language Teaching from the University of Reading.

A Few Personal Comments:
My interests include history, science fiction, walking in the countryside with my family, and gardening (sort of!).
