Staff Profile:Gemma Goddard

Miss Gemma Goddard
Job Title:
PSE Course Tutor

Teaching pre-sessional courses to international post-graduate students.

Base Section:

Pre-Sessional English Programme.

Active Projects:

I am currently collaborating with colleagues on the development of the reading course, with a particular focus on critical reading skills.

I began teaching nearly ten years ago in Brighton and then spent my summers teaching across the south east of England as well as in Oxford and Durham before working here at the University of Reading. I spent ten winters living in India firstly volunteering with a children's charity working with vulnerable street children and trafficked young people, before teaching English to Russian children in south India. On my permanent return to the UK I taught EAP at Durham University as well as BPP University, where I am an assessor. I am currently studying for my own MA while teaching full-time and intend to take an EdD (Doctor of Education) qualification in the future.

A Few Personal Comments:

I enjoy walking in nature, dancing and being active. I've also recently developed a love for cooking, particularly Asian cuisine.

BA (Hons) English Literature and Language from King's College London (University of London), Cambridge DELTA, Certificate in TEAP from SOAS University, Associate Fellow of BALEAP (in progress), MA in Applied Linguistics and TESOL from the University of Portsmouth (in progress).
