Undergraduate Students

The East German Studies Archive is a seminal resource for learning in Part I. As a repository for material for independent research projects, it forms the basis of the module GM1IMG Icons of Modern Germany GM1IMG module description

Our Blog 'Off the Wall' provides the best starting point for understanding how to use the archive for student research projects. It presents

  • individual documents and objects on which students can base their research
  • other students' work which can be used as additional material to better understand topics discussed in class; the entries also give students a good idea of the kind of work that is expected.

The best research projects will be invited to contribute to the Blog, where they will add to the Archive-based learning sources not only for the module GM1IMG but also for Secondary Schools who use the Archive to source additional material for German and/or History classes.

Students who are interested in engaging with the Archive further can apply for a credited placement.
