An alphabetic approach to ephemera
As a prelude to its 25th anniversary in 2018, the Centre for Ephemera Studies at the University organised an exhibition on the alphabetic approach to ephemera adopted by the founder of the Ephermera Society, Maurice Rickards, for his Encyclopaedia of Ephemera (British Library, 2000). The exhibition showed examples of ephemera from several countries, ranging from the late eighteenth century to the present day. The letters of the alphabet were used as a means of drawing attention to the two main approaches to the collection: by subject and by object type.
This special event included a short introduction to the exhibition by Professor Michael Twyman and a delicious afternoon tea.
