The donor's family has been long established in the Stambourne area. He has described his grandfather, D.H. Unwin, as not the best of managers : the Green was sold in 1931 and a smaller farm, The Elms, was bought with what was left after payment of outstanding debts. The donor has now (1966 November) decided to sell The Elms Farm size etc. The Green : 347 acres; owner occupier
