This is a stylus. It was found during cleaning of the site in the first few days. These were used for writing

This is an inscription on Purbeck Marble. Other examples of this date to the first century AD. It was, unfortunately, found during cleaning of the site during the first few days.

This is a fragment of a rotary quern. It was found within the make-up of a floor layer in Building 1 / Block 1, in the south east corner of our trench. It is made from Quartz Congomerate of the Old Red Sandstone which comes from the Forest of Dean.

This is a fragment of lead strip. It is decorated and may have been intended for use as a bracelet. The decoration is similar to that on other bracelets founds at Silchester.
