Our health and well-being depends on the availability and sustainability of good quality food.

Interdisciplinary research areas relating to Food include:

Centre for Food Security

The Centre for Food Security joins together existing areas of research excellence at the University to provide a platform for real-world research around this globally important issue. Its work is organised into five work programmes: lipids (such as fats) in the food chain, phytochemicals (beneficial chemicals found in fruits and vegetables) in the food chain, animals in food security, resilience in the food system and modelling the food system.

Hugh Sinclair Human Nutrition Group

The Hugh Sinclair Human Nutrition Group is part of the Department of Food and Nutritional Sciences. It has an international reputation for its research into the relationship between diet and the risk of chronic disease such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, neurodegenerative disease and cancer.
