Collaborative research

The UK Research Councils, who traditionally funded 'blue sky' research, have also recognised the need to engage in programmes that demonstrate a real business benefit.  There are now a range of funding schemes available to support industry and research communities to work together on projects in strategically important areas of science, engineering and technology, from which successful new products, processes and services can emerge.

Collaborative research projects must involve two or more collaborators, including one from business. The University of Reading with its breadth and depth of research seeks to work with a range of businesses and will provide guidance to business in seeking collaborative research grants.

Sources of funding include those from Research Councils, Charities and the Technology Strategy Board
