FLEXIBLE OPTIONS FOR YOUR DEGREE

You can take either a single honours degree in English Literature or one of our joint honours courses. Single honours students may want to include creative writing modules in their course to graduate with a degree in English Literature with Creative Writing.

In the first year, all students in English Literature choose at least one option in another subject from across the university. This system allows considerable flexibility: at the end of the first year, you may be able to change your final degree course from single to joint honours, or vice versa.

JOINT DEGREES

Students can take English Literature jointly with a number of other subjects. Joint degree students take roughly half their modules in the Department of English Literature and half in the other subject. In their final year, students may have the option to submit a joint dissertation on a topic that links their study in both subjects. Alternatively, students can choose to work on a dissertation that is just in one or other of their subject areas.
