How we teach you

An undergraduate student working in the Department of Typography and Graphic CommunicationWe admit around thirty-five undergraduates each year. Our approach is a personal one, and staff and students get to know each other well. Most of a students' time is spent in studio or workshop sessions, or in seminars and tutorials. Our emphasis throughout is on individual and small-group learning rather than on class teaching.

In 2005 we were named a national Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL). This allows us to enhance applied research and transferable skills among our undergraduates. Wherever our students go, these skills will allow them to respond flexibly to professional demands and changing job circumstances, or to the demands of higher degrees, postdoctoral research or teaching.

Our aim to help students become intelligent, creative, well-rounded and versatile designers.
