Monotype Award
The Monotype Award is open to all students who are in receipt of an offer of a place on an MA programme in the Department of Typography & Graphic Communication, and is to the value of the UK/EU tuition fees, as set by the University.
To be eligible for the award, applicants must show a sound academic background and/or relevant industrial experience in the field of type or typography, and must not have received any comparable funding. If any student does receive comparable funding from another body they must relinquish the award.
Applicants should make a case for support on the application form, in particular considering the following points (page 3 of the form):
- How will taking this course develop your professional or academic expertise and contribute to your long-term career aims?
- Describe any special area of interest you wish to pursue at Reading within your chosen programme.
- How well prepared are you to undertake this course?
This case should be made in no more than 500 words.
Applicants should complete the Monotype Award application form, digitally or physically sign it, and scan and email it to z.j.ryan@reading.ac.uk. It can also be posted to the below address. The deadline for receipt of the form is 16 July 2012.

The Department sends a shortlist to Monotype Imaging Ltd who will decide on the recipient of the award. All applicants will be notified of this decision in the week commencing 6 August. The recipient presents a report to Monotype Imaging Ltd on their studies at the end of their programme.
