 Energy Storage on RTG Cranes


In 2010 UK port operations accounted for 2% of the UK's total emissions, in order to meet Government targets this will need to be reduced. Research shows that a potential reduction could be achieved by improving the efficiency of the cranes used at port sites. Port of Felixstowe is the largest container port in the UK and one of the largest in Europe. The cranes used there are RTG Cranes. The project  developed an energy storage system that can be integrated on board RTG Cranes and a control strategy to regulate the energy flow around the cranes power system.
