The Museum of English Rural Life has now reopened following an major redevelopment project, Our Country Lives, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The Museum reopened to the public on 19th October, 2016, with nine redisplayed galleries, inlcuding one new gallery purpose-built to house our very special Festival of Britain wall-hanging. There is also a new social learning space, The Nook, developed in partnership with students from the University of Reading, open access collections area, enlarged Education Studio, funded by the Earley Charity, shop and reception area; and new features in the garden including a shepherd’s hut and community growing spaces.
